| Anyone out there making money doing what they love- scrapping?
Some ideas/examples I've seen - make embellishments like clay buttons or handmade paper flowers or fabric flowers or diecuts using your cricut and sell on etsy.com or ebay.com - make albums that only need photos added and sell on etsy.com or ebay.com - open a scrapbook store - locally we have a scrapbook studio. They don't sell supplies, they sell classes. Jewelry making, sewing, juicy papers, journaling tips, handmade gift workshops, etc. Expensive but very cool! - make party supplies like banners, invitations, cupcake picks. Advertise their sell online through banners, in your local newspaper or at local shops. - create custom birth announcements, party invites, wedding favors - make examples of a High School album and showcase them to friends who have children/grandchildren who are seniors. Encourage them to buy from you. They supply pics and you give them a finished book. Perfect graduation gift! Or reach out to some mommy-groups about making baby albums for them. They don't have the time but want it done! - sell supplies through companies like Creative Memories, Stampin' Up, Close to my Heart, etc. - make Christmas cards and sell them at church bazaars - make birthday and generic cards and sell at flea markets, farmers markets or approach antique shops and local merchants to sell in their store, giving them a share of profits. - teach a class on new techniques - get a job at a scrapbook store. They give a % off for all the supplies you buy. Problem is, your paycheck may go back to the store for products!! - Check with your local Adult Ed and community centers about teaching a class.

| I've had a friend hire me to make her a scrapbook, someone else offered to pay me to help her make her Sweet 16 invitations, but I didn't charge her. I tried selling my cards at work, but only sold a couple. | |

| I teach at my LSS, and have sold some cards, and did invitations for someone. I'd like to do arty pieces and sell them. | |

| NOooooooo! I did it once, it was awful! I did an entire wedding album for a friend of mine to give as a gift to her niece (the bride). My friend paid for all the product and bought me a cricut for my payment - they had just come out and I wanted one and din't have the nearly $300 they cost at the time. That book ended up being over a 100 pages* - with about a third or so completely scrapped - we also used those 4 pics to a page photo protectors to hold a lot of the pics. The only good thing about it was that I didn't have to journal. I have a full-time job outside the home and scrapbooking is my fun thing, my stress reliever. Doing it for money made it work. *I had to go look it up - it was 154 pages. They got married late fall in 2006. I remember getting the pics right around the holidays and then I finally finished it Memorial Day 2007. It's been a long time but I still get tense when I think about it! | |

| Hi i am a newbee and live in Jamaica in the Caribbean. I have a lot of questions and hope to get some positive answers. In Jamiaca Scrapbook is not really big thing. So all my supplies are ordered online. I love doing albums and i follow Laura on YOUTUBE and other scrapbookers. My question is... Is it ok to sell stuff that you make? What is the difference between the BIGSHOT and the VAGABOND machines? What are the best sites to go on to get an idea as to how to make scrapbook albums apart from YOUTUBE? For those of you who have made albums before, what do you use to protect the cover page if you use designed papers. I will have a lot of questions, so i hope you all dont mind. Its just that i cant just go to a store and purchase stuff and if i get something and it does not work i cant return it. So i want to know from you all how to go about doing what i love to do Scrapbooking. Thanks in advance.

My question is... Is it ok to sell stuff that you make? Yes! And since there aren't many people scrapbooking in your area you may find that friends want to have you make mini albums or other things for them to put their own pictures in.
What is the difference between the BIGSHOT and the VAGABOND machines? I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with either of these. But I would say if you are just starting to scrapbook a die cutting machine and the tools you need to use one should be low on your list.
What are the best sites to go on to get an idea as to how to make scrapbook albums apart from YOUTUBE? I would start by checking galleries where others have their work displayed. That will help you get a feel for what you like and then you can look further for info on techniques you've seen or the manufacturers whose product you like best. There is a gallery here and I would also suggest scrapbook.com and twopeasinabucket.com as both of those have huge galleries.
For those of you who have made albums before, what do you use to protect the cover page if you use designed papers. I mostly use pre-made albums and they come with page protectors that you slide your scrapped pages into. You can also purchase additional page protectors as the albums usually only com with 10 (holds 20 layouts). I prefer to get D-ring albums rather than posts as it is easier to add pages in different sequence and I tend to have lumpy layouts that just fit better into a ring binder style album. When I make mini albums I don't have them specially covered with anything although I do usually keep them in a box when not displayed.

| welcome Marie. I actually have a friend in Jamaica who scrapbooks as well. She gets so excited to go to Florida to buy scrappy items in person but usually orders online. This site has some great prices. Check them out! | |
