QOTD 9/14

We've been spending a lot of time helping with flood relief in our area this week. Simple things like baking a dessert and delivering it to neighbors when they are without power or electricity can make a huge difference. We also helped serve at the food tent last night. Which leads me to my question....

Do you volunteer with any organizations in your area?

I give about 20 hours a week at the elementary school & I help with our Scout troop. I don't really have the time to give anymore. I would love to give some of my time to a local animal shelter though.

That's great Kristi, you'll have more time when the little ones are off to college to do more. I was thinking about doing the animal sheltering thing, but I would get to attached and would only take small dogs.

I helped a little bit with my high school, but other than that no. However, i definitely would if something devastating happened around here.

When we had a wildfire 45 miles away I volunteered to help at the shelter (which was at the local HS) for the people who were evacuated, though the red cross. I answered phones and helped people register for aid. I even tried to help find someone's pet piggy that was lost... sadly I don't know what happened to Abigail the pig. It was a great rewarding experience though one I'd gladly do again if the need arose.
