Do you make cards as you need them or do you make a stash of cards to keep on hand?

I try to keep a stash but I think I give them out as fast as I make them. When I want to make a card, I usually work on something for a specific occasion I know I have coming up in the next few months.

I have a box full of cards, be never have the right ones when I need them so usually end up making them. I wish I could be that organized and make them ahead.
