Cards for the needy
I've been trying to teach my children about the importance of philanthropy.
Giving to others brings such joy to both others and ourselves.
One way I've started them on this is making cards for heros like soldiers, local police officers and firefighters, and sending to needy children and overseas.
Are you good at cardmaking? Have a surplus of scrappy supplies that would be easy to use up? Here are some links to places that can help you get your beautiful pieces of art to someone who will truly appreciate it.

Drop them off at a local children's hospital and ask they be delivered to a child going through chemo.
Deliver them in person (maybe with brownies) to your local fire station or police station.
Librarians and teachers give so much of themselves to the eduction and nurture of others. Don't forget them! How about the school bus driver or school
Senior Centers and group homes/shelters often have shut-ins (people who don't/can't get out) that could use a pick me up.
Make a card for your church pastor or Sunday School teacher. Does your church have missionaries?
Put a handmade card into your own child's school lunch box or place it on their dresser so they see it when they wake up.
Recognize and thank your mail carrier.
